Libre Office

There has been a storm brewing in the OpenOffice.org world over the last few  months ever since Oracle acquired Sun.  Many software developers, unsure of what direction Oracle was going to take its newly acquired open source projects, have begun to look for alternatives to contribute to.  A group called the Document Foundation formed around an effort to free OpenOffice.org from the grip of Oracle. They have gained a lot of support in the community and released their first version of LibreOffice!  I have been watching them mostly from the sidelines, but I’m excited about what they have been able to accomplish in a short time. Keep your eyes peeled for future episodes covering the new LibreOffice.
